Forestville
Village Association, the “Spirit of Bristol”
President,
Dave Pasqualicchio Report:
Dave opened
the monthly meeting welcoming all. Then he
turned the meeting over to V.P. Rick Leach,
who within a half hour, following the
agenda, has you home in time to see the
summer sun set.
With no monthly meeting held in May, we all
had a nice break. In the interim we held a
successful ‘Duck Race’ and the ‘Grand
Forestville Memorial Day Parade’,
remembering those who lost their lives for
the freedoms, we enjoy today.
Our special guest, Acting Police Chief,
Eric Osanitsch, is the new face in the
crowd. He made brief remarks outlining his
approach to the department, reestablishing
its presence and reputation in the City of
Bristol. An interesting question and answer
period followed.
Also noted are returning FVA members, former
Mayor Bill Stortz, Councilman Dave
Mills and independent candidate for city
mayoral race, Gary Lawton. We were
all happy to see Kate Matthews with
her daughter, Anna, our young
villager, who came through a successful
surgery and is now, on the mend.
On 6/6/11, the Bristol Press did a nice
news story, on the front page, titled
“Discussing D-Day”. Veteran, John
Lobaczewski, gave an intimate account of
the invasion. We welcome John tonight and
all the “same old” faces in the crowd (glad
we got them)!!
On Thursday, June 9th, FVA
receives the annual Central CT. Chamber of
Commerce “Spirit of Bristol award.”
Nice recognition, nice turn-out of the FVA
membership with 28 people. Keep the drive,
enthusiasm, commitment and work ethic going.
You all make the difference! Little by
little, one property at a time; it shows and
the community notices.
The Forestville Memorial Day Parade
went well with the new parade route. Parade
participants were down, along with the
sponsors. Parade fell $1,000 in the red.
Mark your calendar. Remember there will be
one summer FVA meeting, July13th.
There is no assembly in August. Happy
Vacation, safe summer,
have fun!
