President, Dave
Pasqualicchio’s
Report and Remarks:
Welcome to all.
Traditionally,
November carries one
of the busiest
agendas of FVA. I am
impressed with the
great membership
turnout we have
tonight, for the
election of
officers, final
additions to 2008
and completion for
the FVA Calendar.
We will also take a
peek at next year’s
agenda.
Veteran’s Day
service at Quinlan
Park was brief, but
well executed. The
service was
coordinated by
Deputy Mayor Leo
Bonola, Ron Trafford
and FVA orator Rick
Leach, signifying
respect for all
Veterans who worked
so hard to protect
America.
New Faces in the
crowd are Linnea
Neurath and
Camille Essel.
Welcome! As new
faces in the crowd,
Linnea and Camille
received a FVA
T-shirt. There is
special
appreciation, as
always, for our core
veterans in
attendance and for
Henry’s ‘Pig’ People
for attending.
Area revitalization
continues. We mark
and follow a trend
of recognizing
deserving business
owners, for
enhancing their
properties. Tonight
we recognize, Rick
Kerzner, chef and
owner of Emily’s
Catering Group, for
his facility
upgrade, recently
completed. Rick
graciously received
a certificate of
appreciation along
with the collection
of Christmas
ornaments and FVA
t-shirts.
This Holiday
season, as we
reflect on our
progress, we are
thankful for FVA
membership and
continued good work
for the Forestville
community. This
year, Forestville
Village Association
Holiday celebration
will be held at
Nuchie’s-Tuesday
December 30th-6:30pm.
For reservation,
please call Marsha
at 582 6245 or email
her at

All members of FVA
are welcome!!

·
Leo brought good
news with him. He
recently spoke to
Tom Colalapietro
about the promised
grant of $30,000
from the state. He
didn’t know if we
received it yet, but
said there was still
time for us.
·

2009 Slogan, “If
you like what you
see, join us?”
All membership will
receive an invoice,
before the first of
the year. Enclosed
you will find an
extra membership
form; we hope you
will pass to a
friend, neighbor or
your favorite
business. Please,
“personally”
invite them to join
the Forestville
Village Association.
Let them know they
don’t have to be a
Forestville
resident, attend
meetings or events,
but there is
strength in numbers.
It is our source of
operations.
The dues are
$15-individual/family,
$15–Non Profit, and
$50 - Business.
FVA has become a
respected
organization
throughout our city,
therefore it should
be easy for each of
us to invite “one”
person or business
and potentially,
double membership!

work out so well.

Beautification:

our center
beautiful!
·
Thank you, Dr.
Everett Lyons,
Principal at BEHS
and students,
who will assemble
the evergreens to be
installed throughout
Forestville in early
December. This has
become a FVA
tradition, warming
up the holiday
season.
·
We are always
accepting
acknowledgments of
deserving property
owners for
recognition.
·
Bristol Chamber of
commerce will
conduct a Holiday
Lighting Contest.

·
Central Square looks
great and is an
inspiring location
for 7th
annual Carol Sing,
hosted by
entrepreneur,
Pete Roberge and
led by
Forestville’s,
Mary Lynn Gagnon.
A large turnout is
expected due in part
to the addition of
BEHS Choral
Group, led by
Michael Cordere.
·
Shawn Casey will
install our new
additional bricks
hopefully before
year’s end. 22 were
sold.
·
A beautification

picturesque property
belongs to FVA

Correspondence with
our Welcome Lady,
Maryellen Holden:

Fundraising:
·
November 1, 2008,
Can and Bottle Drive
netted a profit of
$138.00. Thank you
goes to Tom and
Sue Massarelli
for organizing the
event, Marsha and
Don Lockhart, Ed
Dubois and Tom
Dickau as helpers.
In discussing
whether or not to
continue the bottle
drive in 2009, the
suggestion was made
to possibly
coordinate it with
another event.
·
The 2008 Christmas
Ornament is now
available depicting
Greene - Hills
School
for $10.00 each. We
have a wonderful
series of
Ornaments. The
collection of 5
ornaments is
available for $45.
·
Debbie from
Tradewinds
has designed a
couple of holiday
pieces for the
Manross Library.
They will be raffled
off to January
membership
attendee’s.
·
Duck Race:
Rick Leach
eloquently guided
membership through
the renegotiations
of the Chamber of
Commerce officials
and FVA. Officials
of FVA have a
greater
understanding of
their roles for the
Duck Race 2009,
scheduled for May
3. Tom Dickau
will chair this
major fundraiser for
FVA.
Dave failed to
mention that long
time, FVA
enthusiasts were
present for the
first official Duck
meeting; great input
from Penny
Critchley and Sandy
Gozzo.
·
FVA gives back. FVA
has unanimously
decided to donate
$200.00 to “Meals
for the Needy”
this holiday season.
Quinlan Park Plan:
Marguerite
Petersen reports
it would be best to
break down this
project into phases.
For Phase One we
would like to:
1. Move the
Honor Roll
and install new
pavers in a
rectangle in front
of it. Install
proper foundation
support for Honor
Roll and pavers.
a. existing over
grown yews would
need to be removed.
2. Move (4)
monuments into the
"pinwheel"
configuration and
install associated
pavers to complete
that design.
Install proper pads
and foundations for
the monuments. A
new (donated)
flagpole will be
included.
a. Existing
diagonal sidewalk to
the present Honor
Roll location would
need to be removed.
The question I
presented to Ed
Swicklas (Parks
Department
Superintendent)
is, can we avoid
going out to bid
(and save money) by
using volunteers /
donated services /
donated monies /
fundraising monies
(from FVA) to do
this phase of the
work?
His answer was:
If the City does not
make any
expenditure, either
for material or
service and it's a
series of direct
transactions by the
FVA, then City
guidelines do not
apply.
However, The Park
Board would have to
approve this type of
action and the City
will require whoever
is to be working
there whether in
kind service or paid
have the proper
insurance
certificate.
Aside from that, the
City would probably
seek an official
opinion from
Corporation Counsel
if the Park Board
approved your
request. The process
takes a little more
time to get all the
approvals.
Please readers, send
any questions you
may want addressed
at my meeting with
the Park Board
December 17
to
MpetersenHome@aol.com
and I will do my
best to get answers
or direction that
evening.
2009 Election of
Officers are as
follows:
President – Dave
Pasqualicchio
Vice President – Bob
Fletcher
Secretary- Marsha
Lockhart
Treasurer – Nancy
Blanchette
First Director – Leo
Bonola
Congratulations!!
Closing the meeting,
Dave also remarked
how proud he is of
FVA and its
membership to move
this community
forward, work with
civic organizations
to be a positive
force, making a
difference.
“I am impressed with
all of you” Enjoy
your Holidays!”
