Minutes/Newsletter                                                    February 10, 2010

President, Dave Pasqualicchio Report:

·  We welcome, Ellie Yankofske, who has volunteered to take on membership related duties.  She stepped forward to help us at the right time for the 2010 membership drive and is a great addition to FVA. Thank you Ellie!

· Another nice bit of news, FVA member, Teresa France of DTF Remodeling, has volunteered to solicit for new FVA members, in her Kenny Street neighborhood.   Although Teresa is unable to attend FVA meetings, she offered to help us increase membership. Thank you Teresa!

Attention membership!  Have you signed up one new member, this year? Please, sign up one new member.

· A note of importance, the March Pasta/Auction is in need of help. This fundraiser generates necessary funds for the United Way Day of Caring along with the Greene Hills preschool children programs. There is a great need to solicit area businesses for Auction items. This FVA event is a month away. Please think about bringing the family for Pasta, meatballs, desserts (by the ladies of FVA) and fun. Will you attend? Tickets are available at Nuchie’s, $8.00. Tickets will also be sold at the door.  Mark your calendars!

City Village Report:

· If you have a question or issue with regards to the City of Bristol policies, projects or something you would like  to see get done, please let FVA officials know. Consult with us. Council people, Kate Matthews and Dave Mills would love to help, listen and get answers.

· Marsha did an outstanding job creating this year’s FVA publicity board, for the Home Show.  A representation of  all FVA activities are included, with pictures. Look at it at the next meeting, and be sure to smile whenever you are in Forestville.  Marsha has camera in hand for her “new job”, creating the annual publicity board.

As in past tradition, Emily Levesque colored a wonderful picture of Hello Kitty, for this year’s board. Nice job, Emily!

Tom Dickau- promoting Forestville Village

“An eager group of FVA volunteers just completed many hours of service at The Chamber of Commerce Home Show.  It was a great deal of fun; thanks to all that participated.  Now it is time for the total membership of the association to get behind our major fund raiser.  In the next week or so you will be receiving either an email or telephone call asking to pick up a book of ten tickets for the Duck Race. Please support our event by selling these to your family, friends, associates and/or co-workers!  Without everyone doing this we will not reach our goal of 5000 tickets.  With every member selling at least ten we should arrive at the objective. Please respond when asked.  We are putting these out to you first so that you can sell before they go out to the general public.

Tom Dickau is selling a beautiful postcard which depicts four Bristol scenes.  Tom Dickau, an avid postcard collector, and Tom LaPorte, a Bristol historian, combined to design and publish this card. This card which sells for $1.00 is commemorating the 225th Anniversary of the founding of Bristol. All funds from these cards are being utilized to sponsor free or low cost events. You can get as many as you want by calling Tom at 860 582 1537.  He will also bring them to all FVA meetings.

· FVA would like to implement some type of plan for area litter pick up.  Would anyone like to adopt an area in Forestville; a corner, a wooded section, or your own street or neighborhood?  Call Dave (860.582.1108)and let him know of your choice. This is also a great source for community service hours.  Let’s clean up our village! It adds up to beautification.
