Minutes/Newsletter                                                    April 14, 2010

President, Dave Pasqualicchio Report:

Welcome to new faces in the crowd, including Joe Mudry, John Pompei and Margie Moshka.

Thanks to Marsha and Don for painting the flower boxes on the bridge and creating the painted wood ducks to decorate them for the coming duck race.  Unfortunately, someone decided to take the ducks, leaving our flower boxes bare.

This is our last scheduled meeting until June 9th due to a busy schedule, the duck race, Memorial Day Parade festivities and Marsha’s much needed vacation. Ha! Ha!

The Pasta Auction showed a profit of $945.00. Mayor Stortz was his amusing personality. Approximately 60 people attended and it was really a great evening despite the poor turnout.   Thanks to all who donated to the auction, especially the Forestville businesses, the FVA members who created the beautiful gift baskets and the members who donated their time.

FVA had a special guest speaker this evening, Art, from CW Resources. He explained that his organization works with kids with disabilities, similar to BARC.  It was considered a constructive, sheltered workshop in the past, but a change in their mission includes getting the kids into the community, through various work related jobs. It is FVA desire to team up with this organization and BARC, in a city wide litter removal program. FVA will provide t-shirts to the work crews who clean up. FVA is seeking funding through area agencies or the private sector to help pay these crews who will be sent out.  Bristol must be kept clean. If you would like to donate, send a check to FVA Beautification c/o Nuchie’s, 164 Central St. Forestville, CT. 06010.   “Every litter bit hurts”

The upcoming Duck Race is a wonderful, family event with many children and adult activities. FVA has pride in the festival happenings, bringing community together in the Central Square activity center. Please stop by and show your support and have some fun.

Mark your calendar for the Forestville Memorial Day Parade. Show respect to Veterans and honor all. If anyone would like to help that day, please contact Dave.  We also accept memorial sponsorship donations.

The United Way Builders reception was well attended; Penny and Kit Critchley, Maryellen Holden, Gayle and Rick Leach represented FVA proud and well.
